Chiltern Decorative & Fine Arts Society

If you are interested in the Fine Arts and you live in the Chilterns, our Society may be for you.

We invite you to explore this website to find out more about our activities. The Chiltern Decorative and Fine Arts Society has grown from a small group set up by Patricia Fay that first met in 1965 to study and enjoy the Fine Arts and antiques, to a thriving society of 300 members.

The original concept of promoting education, appreciation and conservation in the Fine Arts grew and led to the formation of many other societies and to the setting up of the national and worldwide NADFAS.

We meet for regular lectures on art-related subjects given by outstanding speakers; we have study days, day trips to venues of interest and cultural tours; and we have many volunteering opportunities in helping to preserve our heritage, as well as promoting Young Arts programmes. Come and join us!

6th March 2018 – Study Day on the Art of Enamelling

This was a well-attended day with Dr. Sally Hoban giving two fascinating lectures on the art of enamelling including the history and techniques of the skill. After a sandwich lunch which allowed the opportunity for members to mingle, there was a Roadshow where members who had brought in their own pieces of enamelling were able to have it examined, admired and discussed.
