Chiltern Decorative & Fine Arts Society

Members in the Society steward and guide in historic houses and work on special one-off projects approved by NADFAS HQ.

As part of our celebrations for the CDFAS fiftieth anniversary in 2015, a group of heritage volunteers, led by Judith McBride has made a delightful crazy patchwork quilt for the late Victorian bedroom in the Haddenham cottage at the Chiltern Open Air Museum which is now in situ.

Volunteers have recently completed a four year project archiving the vast collection of 16thC-20thC documents at Dorney Court. In the past the projects have included cleaning books and documents at Windsor Castle, and picture frames at Eton College, packing artefacts at Household Cavalry Museum for transport to Whitehall, and leather-dressing old books in the Kedermister Library, Langley. All tasks are undertaken after appropriate training and new volunteers are always welcome.

In 2012, Barbara Cullimore was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for her outstanding service as a Heritage Volunteer over many years. Our society is justly proud of her achievement and recognition.
